Welcome to a new batch of sonic explorations recorded on June 23, 2010 at 2640, a collectively run events venue in Baltimore, located at 2640 St. Paul St.

I am proud to present "Resolution" by HMS, a collaboration of Joe Houpert, Nathan McLaughlin, and yours truly, Erich Steiger. This project naturally evolved from a collaboration that occurred during a Loud and Sad production weekend. The synergistic sounds took on a life of their own, and is now borne digitally on the eclectic PandaFuzz label, for the world to enjoy. And since all related content is archived at Archive.org, I imagine this work will endure as long as some sentient beings can interpret 1's and 0's.

Are you interested in experimental music but not sure where to start? Or do you have friends or family members that you think might be interested in this stuff if it was introduced to them in the right way? In order to make this sort of thing happen more frequently, High Zero has put together this special free event at 2640 space called TASTER. It's a buffet of virtuoso experimental music styles.

In addition to good food and drink and casual conversation, this event will feature short, highly varied sets by these hand-picked ensembles of great Baltimore area musicians:  Neil Feather, Eric Franklin, and Dan Breen (inventions); John Dierker (bass clarinet), Samuel Burt (bass clarinet), Britton Powell (bass), and Will Redman (drums); Susan Alcorn (pedal steel guitar), Paul Neidhardt (drums), and Chris Pumphrey (alto saxophone); Andy Hayleck (inventions) Ayako Katoaka (inventions), and Peter Blasser (inventions); Audrey Chen (cello, voice), Shodekeh (human beat-boxing), and Brian Sacawa (saxophones)

Please come and bring interested friends and family. It's a chance to peek into the amazing, exotic world of Baltimore experimental music and see what you like. The event will last about an hour and a half, starting at 8PM sharp.

I've been pretty busy lately recording Audrey Chen and friends at 2640 in Baltimore, and archiving and mixing recordings done at STEIM in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Also I recently recorded and mixed This Frontier Needs Heroes, Small Sur, and The Dodgers at Golden West.  This was the 2nd recording done at Golden West of Small Sur and The Dodgers.

I've recently added some choice compressors, EQ's and mics to the collection.  Also, I've acquired an Allen & Heath ZED R16 - 16 channel firewire production mixer.  This desk sounds amazing, and opened new realms of production techniques, including out of the box analog mixing of digital content, using analog EQ's, compressors and other hardware.  Also, it is portable and able to do live mixing of shows while taking a multi-track recording of the show.

The Pedal Hacking Workshop is Baltimore Node's first event at our new space in The Load of Fun Building on 120 W. North Ave, Baltimore. Bring your guitar pedals and parts to work and learn in an open workshop environment. Baltimore Node is supplying the workspace, some basic tools, and soldering instruction.

Examples of projects being worked on during the workshop:

The antilog.org webserver was down this week to move it to a new home.  Antilog operations commence!

This pedal consists of 2 switches, 4 jacks and a potentiometer, requires no power, and radically transforms anything that is plugged into the loop. Or it can simply server as a true-bypass switchable fx loop.
